The Scottish Islands Network (SIN) has been set up to promote, publicise and advance the interests of all Scottish islands by bringing together public, private and community organisations.

OBJECTIVES ARE
AIMS
The aims of the Scottish Islands Network shall be to promote, publicise and advance the interests of Scottish islands; and to do this in Europe, in Britain and in Scotland.
OBJECTIVES
1. To lobby government on
behalf of Scottish islands. This will include:
The Institutions of the European Union
The UK Parliament, UK Government and its agencies
The Scottish Parliament, Scottish Executive and its agencies
2. To promote social and economic inclusion and equality of opportunity for island communities; and to raise awareness of the severe geographical handicap that affects island communities.
3. To promote better links and communication between local authorities and other government agencies with responsibilities for islands.
4. To promote better links and communication between community and voluntary organisations and businesses on Scottish islands.
5. To promote communication between Scottish islands and islands elsewhere by forming links with other island networks such as:
Council for Peripheral
Maritime Regions (CPMR) Islands Commission
European Small Islands Network
Global Islands Network
6. To attend, hold or
promote conferences, seminars or other meetings in pursuit of these aims and to
disseminate information as widely as possible through the network website,
e-mailing list, e-newsletter and other means.
