ABOUT SCOTTISH ISLAND SHOPPING

INFORMATION SHEET

In collaboration with Argyll and the Isles Enterprise (AIE) and the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), we have devised a scheme to help meet some economic and E-commerce needs of the Islands of Scotland. We believe that all the Islands all have common problems and also strengths, and that this project is one tool to help promote the Islands and help them take advantage of the huge opportunities opened up by the Digital Revolution.

AIMS

To assist businesses ‘get on-line’ quickly and easily, using a common software policy.
To assist businesses obtain grant aid from the Enterprise Companies (normally 50% of total).
To assist the Enterprise Companies promote business initiatives.
To keep businesses informed about Island related business matters.
To help and advise businesses about the benefits of FSB membership.
To compile a common database for Island businesses.
To promote Island businesses on the World Wide Web.

MEANS OF ACHIEVING OUR AIMS

Use www.scottish-island-shopping.com and www.scottish-island-shopping.uk to link to all island main websites.
To use the links from Island, and Members’ websites to help promote the site.
To use the FBS network and Island networks to keep in contact with members.
Back-up and advice available; also grant aided tuition available.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

FREE for the first year until 1st July 2003, after that period we hope to keep it free, however, this is dependant upon sponsorship and funding from organisations.
Funds may be raised later by offering enhancements.
Enhancements will be Web and E-mail links, possibly with images.
No listings will be removed, except by the request of the business (even after year 1).
